Hello to all the gorgeous women (and men, but this day is for the ladies) reading this. This post should have actually been up yesterday but they way my life has been set up wouldn’t allow it. I’ve just been hella busy, it barely feels like I’m on holiday. (I’ll explain why in a later post) Also, as some or most of you may know, Kenya’s presidential elections were a couple of days ago and there’s just a lot of drama involved with the results which I don’t wanna talk about today.
For today, let us take time to celebrate all women.
I speak especially for African women. Let us celebrate their hard work. In taking care of their families. In rising above situations that don’t favour them. In not following the status quo. In proving that they too can work, work professionally and do outstandingly well in the workplace. In proving that they too can lead, lead even better than some of our corrupt male leaders. In being fighters, warriors, saviors of the African people. We salute you.
Let us also take time to acknowledge all the oppressed, the abused, all the women who suffer at the hands of men…or at the hands of the world.. Because this world was not made to suit us, it feels like all odds are against us. And we have to keep fighting against the odds. To all the sexually, emotionally, physically and mentally abused women who’ve risen above their abuse, I salute all of you! For showing us that we can still be strong, we can still heal and we can still be as great as you!
And lastly, I urge us African women to stand together. There’s no time for girl-on-girl hate, no time for jealousy, no time to back-stab each other. The world is already against us, we can’t be against ourselves too. We are our only hope I’m telling you. Take time to compliment a fellow woman today, that friend whose success you’re jealous of, or that stranger walking on the streets. It’s the small things that count 🙂
Let’s now talk about my outfit. I bought this beautiful fabric recently. I wanna start sewing again and currently planning and working on a very cool project with it. For this outfit however, I just somehow wrapped the fabric around myself to come up with this look which I absolutely love!
I also shot a lookbook which I have uploaded on my YouTube channel. Check it out down below, if you haven’t already subscribe to my channel. In my next video I’m letting you know where to shop for this fabric in Nairobi.
