Hey guys!!! These past two weeks have just flown. I really thought I would have uploaded more blog posts but damn! This 30 day vlogging challenge on YouTube got me so exhausted. I barely have any extra time. I have quite a bit of content lined up for the blog though as I have had a number of shoots and attended a number of cool events I’d love to talk about here so definitely stay tuned. I also visited my village last weekend to attend my grand parents’ memorial service so stay tuned as well for both a vlog and a blog post on that.
Today however I thought it best to share with you a post that’s way long overdue. I attended the Good Food and Wine Show Cape Town 2017 in June. The Good Food and Wine Show is the biggest culinary event in Africa and basically a foodie’s heaven. I was honored to get media accreditation and I got to bring some of my creative friends along who helped me out with shooting and covering the event. A big shout out to Aisha Mugo who is an amazing film photographer. Check out her work on https://aisha-mugo.tumblr.com/ . All photos in this blog post were shot by her with her film camera. Thank you girl. I really appreciate all your help and support in my journey.
The event was quite an experience. It was so overwhelming to see so many celebrity and top chefs. The food was so much. Many vendors showcased and sold their different gourmet foods. There were also quite a number of wine tasting stands and we got to sample quite a bit of wine from various farms and vineyards. J’Something who is the lead singer of Micasa was one of the headliner chefs at the event. I really enjoyed his show as he combined his musical talent, singing, while he cooked. Like boyfriend goals right!!! During his show, there was even a guy who proposed to his girlfriend on her birthday. It was such a beautiful sight. All in all, I was very grateful to be there.
What I would suggest to them for future shows is to have more food tasting booths. A lot of the food vendors were only selling food and one could not taste the food beforehand. However, the whole point of the good food and wine show should be to sample a wide variety of foods because honestly speaking you can’t expect us to buy from each and every single food vendor. More sampling will help in creating more awareness about a certain brand or chef and help the buyer make a more informed decision when purchasing.
The Joburg edition of the Good Food and Wine Show is happening this weekend from 28th to 30th July at the Ticketpro Dome. Check their website and social media handles for more details. If you’re in Joburg make sure to check it out and Durban people be patient as the show is coming to you this October (27th-29th).
I luckily got to shoot a vlog so make sure to check that out on my YouTube channel which I will link down below. Subscribe to my channel as I post daily videos and make sure to check out the other videos I have posted.
Until next time
